CBD FOR PERIOD PAIN
Thanks to Humboldt Apothecary
for creating this tincture and my first intro to CBD.For the longest time I was very judgmental about CBD use. Because of all the things I had learned about marijuana growing up, CBD to me was bad.
Due to my health history, I wanted to detoxify my life as much as possible. I started with my household cleaners, moved into skincare and makeup, and it was only a matter of time that I wanted more natural options to manage pain and anxiety.
After a lot of convincing, I decided to finally give it a try. I paid a visit to Med Men
in West Hollywood because it was the least intimidating dispensary, feeling more like an Apple store than buying pot. Still a little bias at this point.
I decided to start with a tincture. I was already taking essential oils, so this felt similar. It was easy to use and fast acting. Most important? It worked at reliving pain and other discomforts during that time of the month. At the time I knew nothing about Humboldt Apothecary, but since then am proud to support a female created and run small business. Check out their story HERE
It's been a few months now and the tincture alone has made such an improvement in my life. My period is no longer a burden and I don't have to stay home because I don't feel well.
After finding how beneficial CBD for period pain was, I decided to venture into other products to help with my anxiety and depression.
The last month I’ve been micro dosing a few days a week to help with my anxiety by using a vape pen from Dosist
. For someone who poo poo's smoking of any kind, this was a very far stretch for me. I'm such a non smoker that I had to be taught how to use the vape pen step by step (multiple times). My moods and thoughts were getting the best of me and I really did not want to take prescriptive for it, but I was also severly affected and it was holding me back. I had to try something. At first I wasn't sure if it was working, but Chris noticed a huge change. Not in personality, but just in mood. I would still feel a bit down and get upset, but it was much more manageable. My emotions were all there, I was just able to recognize it and move on. It's hard to describe, but it was much better than feeling numb or like I was falling down this well with no way out.
On top of all the mood balancing benefits, to my surprise my period completely caught me off guard! This is the first time in over 20 years since having a period where I did not experience any physical discomfort or cramping. In fact my period is not at all affecting me right now! Woohoo!
WHERE CAN YOU FIND CBD?
Unfortunately the products I've mentioned thus far are not available nationwide. You'll need to visit a dispensary to purchase any marijuiana derived CBD products. Depending on the state you live in, you may need a prescription, license, or it may be completely illegal. Good news is that hemp derived CBD with less than 0.3% of THC is legal in all 50 states and you do not need any license or prescription to purchase. Make sure to look for FULL SPECTRUM HEMP DERIVED CBD.
Chris and I have been researching the best quality products to buy and we've actually decided to open up a curated self-care shop! I've always wanted a small boutique of Indy brands created by women. After hearing the feedback from Instagram, we thought we'd start with CBD products. We'll also be caring non CBD products that we love, but align with our values. We want The Art of Care to be a highly curated place to shop all things self-care. Working hard at getting the website up and picking up inventory, but follow us on INSTAGRAM for up to the minute updates.
