This blog post is about the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disneyland California. All the tips and what to expect for your experience.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
Tucked away in Disneyland California’s Fantasyland is the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique where you can shop all the princess and knight costumes, accessories, and more. With a little planning you can even book your little one a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Makeover.
The starting age for this magical experience is 3 years old and cuts off at 13.
A Magical Third Birthday
I’m not sure if the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Makeovers were available when I was of age, but I do know I’ve wanted to experience this since before I even wanted kids.
For my daughter’s third birthday I knew I wanted to make sure we booked her a magical makeover experience. At first I was worried she might not enjoy it, but Disney knows what’s up because I swear the moment she turned three she was all about princesses, makeovers, and getting pampered. How To Book Your Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Makeover
Reservations open up 60 days in advance at 6am PST. Because I knew we’d be spending her birthday at Disneyland, I made sure to have my Disneyland App downloaded and signed in 60 days prior to her birthday visit.
You’ll need a valid credit card to hold your reservation, but you will not be charged unless you have a no show.
- Download the Disneyland App
- Create an account, link your tickets, and make sure you are logged in.
- 60 days before your visit open the app
- Use the search function at the bottom of the screen
- Type in “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique”
- Check availability for your visit date and select a time.
You can also book directly through the website here.
Didn’t Get Your Reservation?
Make sure to visit the app frequently as cancelations happen and time slots open up.
Another option is to make sure to head to the park early the day of, visit the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and ask about walk up appointments.
There are a small handful of walk up availability each day, but it’s first come first serve and once they are out, they are out.
What To Expect
Once you are booked, make sure you have the correct park tickets and reservations. 5 minutes before your appointment time check in with a Fairy Godmother Apprentice outside of the Boutique across the kiosk.
Once you check in, stay close for your Fairy Godmother Apprentice to call your name to shop.
During your shopping experience you will be presented with the different packages. The packages start at $99.95 and go up to $450.00 before tax and discounts.
If you are a Magic Key Holder or Vacation Club member your discounts apply.
I’ve included photos of the exact packages that will be presented to you as of 2024, so you are prepared with which option you’d like.
The Different Packages
Castle Package
For our daughter we choose the Castle Package which is the third to highest package. This package includes your choice of hairstyle, shimmer makeup, face gems, nail polish, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Cinch Bag, Royal Sash, choice of a Disney Princess dress costume, crown and wand set, and printed photo package.
Deluxe and Princess Signature Packages
The next two levels will have the options for a Deluxe Disney Princess Costume or a Princess Gown made of heirloom quality fabrics and design details. Both of these options are similar otherwise.
The Deluxe Disney Dresses usually retail around $100 and the Princess Gowns are around $350.
Carriage and Courtyard Packages
If you already have your own dress or costume, these are the two packages you can look at.
Both packages include a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique t-shirt, sash, and cinch bag. You will receive your choice of hairstyle, shimmer makeup, face gems, and nail polish. The courtyard package will also include a tutu and headband.
Neither package includes photos, but you can ask for an add on for the photo options.
Frozen
Something I wished I knew about was the Frozen Packages. They don’t always mention it unless they see the child is really into Frozen. These two packages have special hairstyles that are only available through the Frozen options.
There are two Frozen options. Option 1 includes your choice of Ann or Elsa hairstyle, shimmer makeup, face gems, nail polish, cinch bag, royal sash, Huggable Olaf Plush,
Frozen II option will include a choice of dress as well as all the Frozen 1 options.
Royal Knight and Deluxe Royal Knight Packages
If your child prefers a sword and shield check out the Royal Knight Packages. Starting at $19.95 and going up to $79.95.
The Royal Knight receives a hairstyle with hair gel and pixie dust plus a mighty sword and shield.
Deluxe Knight Package has the addition of a Prince Costume.
Neither package includes photos, but you can add it on.
Time Frame
After we selected our package, hairstyle, dress, and accessories, we waited outside to be called in by another Fairy Godmother Apprentice.
The wait time is typically around 10 -15 minutes.
Once you are called in, you will be led to your dressing room to change. This moment is absolutely magical for the kids and watching their faces is the best.
After you are changes, you’ll be led to your beauty chair for all the pampering. The pamper session takes about 35 to 45 minutes.
Don’t worry your kid will be so into it the time goes by quickly.
Hygiene
Everything they use on your child will be for your child only with exception of the cape and face shield for the pixie dust.
You get to keep all the makeup, nail polish, and unused face gems. They will also open a new hair brush for your child and pack it with your items to take home.
Photo Shoot
If you choose a package with photos, you will then be led to the otherside of the castle to wait for your photo session.
For us this was the longest process both for our own experience and when we went with a friend.
The wait can be anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes depending on the day. Usually the kids are so excited from their makeover they don’t mind waiting.
The photographers were amazing with the kids and did such a great job. I was shocked at how well my daughter took direction and really happy with the photos.
You will get to keep ALL your photos digitally by downloading them through the Disneyland App. Make sure you save each individual photo digitally onto your device.
They will print out a few photos for you to take home and keep in a commemorative folder. You won’t be able to choose the photos they print, but they typically pick the best ones for you.
Was it Worth It?
100 percent yes! My daughter LOVED the experience so much and I was holding back tears watching her take it all in.
She loved being pampered and dressing up as Snow White. The next day when she got up and we were headed down to breakfast, she kept touching her hair wondering what happened to her colorful ponytail, asking “where did my hair go?”
I had to explain to her it was a clip in and I saved it, so we could put it back in later.
This will definitely be a repeat for us and I can’t wait to book her for a Frozen session now that I know about it. I think she’ll really enjoy transforming into Elsa or Anna.
