Finding the Right Sports Bra

Lorna Jane Sports Bras

Finding the right sports bra is incredibly important as a woman. The right fitting bra can do wonders for your comfort and silhouette. When it comes to exercise, it’s important to be comfortable and have the correct support. Supported boobs are not saggy boobs.

It wasn’t till recently that I realized I had been wearing the wrong size bra most of my life. Imagine the shock when I found out 3 different times, by 3 different sales associates that I was actually a 32 D. My whole life I had bought bras in 34 B because my mom told me that was my size. This is one of those times my mom was flat out wrong. When I finally got over the shock and put on the correct bra, I was amazed at how much thinner I looked. My posture was more upright, and I felt comfortable.

The last 2 1/2 weeks, I started a new exercise program, Bikini Body Guide by Kayla Itsines (follow me on Snapchat for daily sweaty selfies.) I first heard about the guides from my friend Remi, who recently launched her own blog. With the recent move, my mom’s stroke, trying to cut back on expenses, and my busy, unpredictable schedule, I thought it would be the right time to try these guides myself.

The guides consist of circuit training, cardio, and stretching. After week 1 I realized the current fashion forward, cute sports bras I own were not cutting it for the more intense, fast pace workouts. One of my shopping goals for Black Friday was to find 3 well fitted, supportive sports bras. I walked into Lorna Jane (Topanga Canyon Mall) for the first time and was helped by the sweetest sales associate named Melody (I think, it might have been Melanie). It helped that we were both the same size and she really took the time to listen to my needs and concerns. She was patient and gave me lots of options, but not pushy at all.

I’ve had super supportive sports bras for my running days and those suckers were a pain to get on and off. They also felt like a cage around my boobs. If possible, I wanted something comfortable and supportive. Here are the 3 I ended up with. 2 were the same style in different colors.

This bra was on sale at the store. Similar one linked here. What I love about the bra is the textured detail, removable pads, and the racerback. I feel secure and supported without being constricted or revealing. You should see the cleavage some of these sports bras can give!

The next two are the same styles in different colors. I absolutely fell in love with the Comfort Sports Bra style and fit. The bras defiantly live up to the name. It is supportive, comfortable, and simple. I chose a black one and a gray and black striped pattern. I can see myself returning of more. These also have the removable padding in the bra. Having the removable padding is a great option, I typically prefer to have a  little padding for shape and desecration. sportsbra6

So far I have done Legs and LISS (Low Intensity Steady State) Cardio wearing these new bras and I’m quite happy and supported.

What are some of your favorite workouts? Would you like to know more about my fitness journey?

I prefer checking the sports bra out in the changing rooms, I also try to jump around to see if anything is bouncing even after wearing the sport bra. I always go fro the high impact one because that is the only bra which provides me comfort and also doesn’t hurt my shoulders.

I’ve heard so many things about Kayla’s workout guides and I follow her on Instagram but I can’t bring myself to buy one of her guides. How you like yours? Do you think its worth it?

Hi Emily- I think you should try the app first. So far I’m in pre training week 3 day 3, so I don’t know yet how I will like the program. I do find it easy to follow and use, but I have a pretty active fitness background from the past. The exercise defiantly are hard. The app has a few bugs in it, but you can cancel anytime and there is a free trial period. The guides are the same as the app, just that you pay monthly vs. all up front. If I see people are interested in my workout progress, I will do more posts on how I’ve come along.
