HEALTHY & AFFORDABLE VALENTINES DAY IDEAS

Some may love it, most seem to dread it, but Valentine's Day is just around the corner. Many times we feel the pressure to book fancy dinner reservations and show our love with chocolates, flowers, and jewelry. This year in sticking with my no buy/ low buy mentality, I wanted to share some healthy and affordable Valentine's Day date ideas.

While I love jewelry, flowers, chocolates, and a nice dinner out, memories and experiences bring me the most joy, especially as I get older. In today’s post, I partnered with adidas to share with you fun and affordable options for healthier ways to spend time with those you love and even some quality time with yourself. Because at the end of the day this holiday is about spending time with loved ones including the most important person in your life, YOU.

HEALTHY and AFFORDABLE VALENTINES DAY IDEAS

If you’re not aware already, I’m currently embarking on a no buy/ low buy quarter. There are many reasons I’m doing this and it’s all laid out in this blog post and this video.

While spending money to enjoy time with friends and family is not apart of my no buy/ low buy, I do want to be mindful of my expenses. In the past I’ve had a tendency to say I’ll stop shopping in one area and then go overboard in another. So in an effort to break old habits, I’ve set rules to become more mindful in all areas of spending.

For Valentine’s Day, I wanted to focus on fun things we can do that are very low cost to no cost.

DATE IDEAS

These ideas are great with a friend, partner, or even yourself! Valentine’s Day shouldn’t just be about romantic love, but all love including loving yourself.

HIKING

Plan a hiking date and pack a picnic basket full of fun nutritious snacks. Going out and getting fresh air is good for the mind, body, and soul. What better way to stay on track with your health goals than to take it outdoors?

Some of my favorite hikes are with friends. You get time to catch up and there’s always something calming about being in nature.

WORKOUT TOGETHER

Try a new workout class alone or with a loved one. Studios usually offer free or discounted first classes. I love taking a friend or Chris to a new workout. We tried boxing a few months back and had such a blast.

DO GOOD

Good deeds create self-esteem and who couldn’t use a little more these days?

Feeling down, lost, lonely? Try donating your time at a soup kitchen, sorting food at the food bank, or organize your own beach clean up. Every little bit helps the community.

WHAT WE WORE

The best part about all the activities I listed above? You get to dress comfy! I’m all about staying comfortable as much as possible.

Women’s SST Track Pants, I’m wearing a medium

Men’s Alphaskin tech 3-Stripe, Chris is wearing a small

No Show Socks

What are your plans this Valentine’s Day? Do you celebrate or stay home? Let me know in the comments

xoxo

No beau this year on V-Day so I did Galentine’s Day instead with a group of friends from work. We decided to focus on mindful gifts. Lots of journals and crafty things… and chocolate, of course, though we mostly tried to stick with dark, organic chocolate. Mostly. ☀️☀️☀️

I think my boyfriend and I will stay in to cook a delicious meal together. We’ll probably go get a nice bottle of wine from a store, steak from a butcher shop, and cappuccino pie for dessert.

We tried to go out on V-Day once but it was a 3-hour wait for a table in a packed restaurant and paying a premium price on V-Day when we can always go out to dinner on any other nights.

I will be dressing comfy but I still also want to make the effort to look good and presentable (avoiding the roll out of bed look).

Love the post! Awesome ideas. I’m going to stay at home with my Kitty watching movies on my list on Netflix and eating popcorn since I’ve been craving it, so a movie night in 🙂
