It’s the home stretch here! Makeup Bag Monday week 49 I test out two homemade makeup products. Tutorials on how to make your own makeup and beauty products are coming soon here and on YouTube, so make sure you are subscribed. This week I kept my makeup bag pretty simple. A beautiful primer, concealer, homemade powder foundation, clean fruit pigmented blush, homemade cream highlighters, and a setting spray. Watch today’s video to find out how everything performed. I did forget to talk about the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage concealer, but I’ll update you guys next week!
WHAT IS MAKEUP BAG MONDAY?
Each week I rotate my makeup bag with new product launches and makeup from my makeup collection. Originally this series started here on sereinwu.com, I have since moved it to my YouTube Channel. I am now bringing back Makeup Bag Monday on the blog! Come back every Monday for detailed makeup reviews and find out what I have selected for the upcoming week. MBM blog post will have closeup photos and true to life swatches to help with any of your shopping needs. Think of it as a readers digest to go along with the YouTube videos.
HOMEMADE MAKEUP
I was pretty skeptical when it came to homemade makeup, but I also was intrigued. As you may know, I’ve been really into ingredients. Because of my recent ingredient obsession, specifically regarding cleaner options, I wanted to try my hand at homemade makeup. My first DIY experiment was cream highlighters. My version of the RMS Beauty Living Luminizer. Super easy to make and quite affordable if you look at the per oz. cost to do it yourself. With the success off the cream highlighters, which of course I need to make a few adjustments my next batch, I decided to try powder foundation.
HOMEMADE MAKEUP POWDER FOUNDATION
I had a lot of fun mixing my powder foundation, but I was a bit scared to put it on my face. Will this work? How is this even possible? I’m happy to report, it’s been my goto foundation the past few weeks. My homemade makeup was a success and I have been getting tons of compliments on my makeup and skin. Because the ingredients are all natural, organic, and food grade, I believe my skin tolerates it more. Good skin equals less need for makeup. It’s a catch 22 really. Bonus, I smell yummy!
LET’S KEEP IT CLEAN
Sticking with the homemade makeup theme, I thought I’d try to keep the rest of my makeup as clean as possible. With the new Cover FX Mattifying Makeup Setting Spray which is alcohol free, parabens free, phthalates free, and cruelty free. Woohoo! 100 Percent Pure fruit pigmented blush in mimosa, a stunning powder blush perfect for summer. I really do love 100 Percent Pure powder products.
The only two products that are debatable in terms of clean beauty is the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer and Becca Backlight Primer. While I’m not 100% cruelty free or clean just yet, I do my best.
