Welcome to the first newsletter of 2017! The first newsletter for SereinWu.com. As mentioned in my videos at the end of 2016, this newsletter is designed to bring you exclusive content and giveaways for my subscribers. I wanted a way to get to know you better and build a close relationship with those who want to. For January, I want to share more about hubs. As hubs becomes more involved helping me with my channel, podcast, and blog, I think it’s time you get to know him. He will be writing a guest posts for the Content Creator Tips Series. As my newsletter subscriber, you get to know him first!
Who is hubs?
Hubs’ name is Chris. Bubs, Hubs, and Babe are nicknames I use for Chris. Rarely will you hear me call him by Chris at home.
For a long time we kept what I did on YouTube exclusively my thing. He watched from the sidelines as I found my voice and community. As my channel grows and ideas of what I’d like to do in expanding this community, I need help. Chris has started to take a more active role helping me with the business aspect of running everything.
This is where his 12 + years of being a talent agent, manager, and producer really comes in handy. It’s a bit odd reflecting on our pasts, how we ran away from it, and how it is helping us today. Life really does come full circle at times. Hubs moved to L.A. to work in entertainment at 18. We met because of work. After a decade plus working in the entertainment industry, he quite shortly after we married.
The Burn Out
If you ask him, he says he burned out. The industry lost it’s magic for him. Working 24/7 for over 12 years can ruin it for you. After we married, Chris realized for our relationship to evolve he had to get out. Our wedding was planned around television season. For him to take a week off during our honeymoon was an ordeal. Up until 2015, Chris had never taken a vacation. 2015 was his first year away from managing talent.
Before 2015, we couldn’t go anywhere that he would be unreachable incase there was a situation with work. There would be times at dinner (the one hour I had with my husband) and we would be disturbed thanks to work. When Chris decided to quit, I panicked. He had never done anything else, but mainly he was REALLY REALLY GOOD at what he did.
Creativity is key
How were we going to pay the bills?
After a lot of thought, Chris decided to go into photography. He had always loved photography and art. With Chris’ love for art and photography he was able to find a new profession he loved. of course it was not all smooth sailing. He had to learn to use a digital camera (growing up he shot on film) and teach himself photoshop, lightroom, and indesign. It helps when you love something because like YouTube for me, Chris dove head first. Today he does some of the best editing jobs I’ve seen around.
Content Creator Tips
This is why I wanted to start the Content Creator Tips Series. It’s not just about helping those who want to start or have started a channel, blog, or social media account, but to hopefully inspire those who want to add a little creativity in their life. Life should not be without creativity or passion. If you get to have both in your career, than you are lucky, but if not, there’s always a small way to incorporate it in your life.

A few years ago I used to work with someone that never wanted to share anything he would always tell me if they want to know let them go and do like I did. I love your style and would love to see some videos/blogs something on handbags that are reasonably priced. You have some beautiful ones in your pics from Chanel etc however as a working mom of 2 it is hard for me to justify spending that much on a handbag. My daughter and I are going to NYC on Spring Break and I would love a pretty, durable cross body bag without breaking the bank. I would love some recommendations from you 🙂

Hi Serein! I have noticed that your YouTube channel and its content had changed for the better! It’s true, it takes time to get a hold of everything, especially learning the ins and outs of this industry. I just recently followed you on instagram and the photos are really stunning. Does you husband take the photos of those as well? I always check YouTube daily as part of my “let me relax and watch/read a few stuff mainly about makeup and fitness” and I make sure to check on yours, you’re one of a few that sounds so sincere, and don’t pile a ton of makeup (at least doesn’t look like so) that’s so unrealistic. Nice intro to Chris. My Hubby works insane hours too & wants to change. I even vacationed with my siblings the past 2 years when he couldn’t get away.

It sticks when they work so much, when he went into photography he still worked crazy schedules, but at least it was a bit more under his control. Now we get to work together, but then we have to remember to shut off and spend time not working together. He still has his business, so he’s a bit stressed now, but hoping to be able to figure it all out this year.
The Heir is actually an amazing book. It’s really different from the first series, but it showcases another strong female character in a different light, and it’s actually pretty rad. That’s kind of amazing that Serein recommended it.

So I’m about three hours into it and I think I really like it. I mean she’s a bit spoiled at first and I think I know where it’s going, but I like it so far.

I love this! I, myself, has been getting into photography. I have a strong passion for photography, baking, and helping others. So, my dream is to open up a bakery. But, not just any bakery– a bakery where people can also purchase my photographs. All proceeds made by selling my photographs will go towards charities and I would love to be able to bake up some sweets for the homeless!

I love this set up and I love getting to know more about you all! I definitely like seeing what you’re reading because we have similar taste in books. I think you might do this in your monthly favorites, but I love when bloggers choose like one favorite random item that they fell in love with for the month, not necessarily a beauty item, but like random every day things like clothes, or housewares or jewelry / accessories etc.
