I love simple makeup. Welcome back to Makeup Bag Monday week 6! This week I feel refreshed and recharged from my birthday. Thank you all for the birthday wishes! It really brightened my day. Like I’ve said before on Periscope (sereinwu), I seriously wish we could have spent my birthday together at lunch. I think of you as my good friends who have supported me through so much. I took Tuesday off of last week and was forced to put my phone down for a few hours… amazing how addicted to work I’ve become. Unfortunately when I take a day off during the week, everything piles up and I’m now playing catch up. I have to say last week’s simple makeup products I picked out really made me happy each day I sat down to put on my makeup. A lot has to do with the fact that I have found some amazing natural products that I love. Something about applying clean products on my skin makes me feel better. Also after 5 weeks, I think I’ve discovered a happy balance of makeup products to pick out for myself to use. My happy makeup days are simple makeup days. From day to day it’s just my preference to feel fresh faced. Especially now when my skin has been at it’s best, I don’t feel the need to slap on heavy coverage or wear much. I like to subtly enhance my features. It’s also great because I don’t feel like I need to wash my face midday before a work out, which helps with any dryness I have. My skin is still a bit dry on the cheeks, but I have balanced it out tremendously by using The Organic Pharmacy. You can watch my experience with them here. Also make sure to check out last week’s Makeup Bag Monday post here if you missed it. Let’s get on with how I felt about last weeks simple makeup items.
LAST WEEK’S SIMPLE MAKEUP REVIEW
Bare Minerals the Nature of Nudes Eyeshadow Palette $42
OBSESSED with this palette! I knew when I saw it at Ulta, I just had to have it and I am so happy I bought it. This is the perfect neutral eyeshadow palette. Bare Minerals makes great eyeshadow, I use to own a few of the duo and quads, loved them, but wished they came in larger palettes. Well, my wish came true and they filled it with neutrals! My favorite! I found the palette to work well for everyday and also versatile enough to create deeper, smokier looks for nights out. My favorite two shades I wore most of the week are #3 lost for words and #4 Truffle. Go buy this palette!
100% Pure Long Lasting Brows in soft brown + medium brown $20
I was quite impressed over the all natural, cruelty free brand this week. Full first impression/ Tester Tuesday video on 100% Pure will be coming up on Tuesday this week (tomorrow). This long lasting brows in soft brown works beautifully at defining, filling, and grooming my brows. I find I like this one over the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pomade. The ABH Brow Pomade can tend to be a bit heavy for my sparse brows. This is a happy medium. The longevity of the product was also quite impressive, didn’t find a need to touch up and it lasted all day.
The Estee Edit The Barest Blush 02 Coy Coral $28
This coral blush is so pretty for spring. I love how rich and pigmented, but light-weight the blush is. I’m not a huge fan of the gold overlay, however it rubs off rather easily and then you are left with just the blush itself. I was surprised at how well this blush blended.
Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil in ME-42 + M-60 (coming soon in May)
If you have trouble with your eyeliner smudging, buy this! The formulation is so rich, creamy, and smooth. It does not move once it’s on. You can read more about these eye pencils here along with swatches.
Colour Pop creme gel liner in honeydude $5
Love this pencil! It’s so creamy and smooth. I used this on my lower lash line all week. I like that it’s mechanical so that I don’t need to worry about sharpening the nude pencil. Typically, everyday I use a nude pencil to line my lower lash line to brighten up my face, so having a mechanical one that isn’t all stiff is a makeup bag necessity. Also you really can’t beat the $5 price tag.
100% Pure Maracuja Oil Mascara blackberry $25
This mascara is one of the reasons I look forward to putting on my makeup each day. The all natural, cruelty free mascara smells so amazing! It smells like berries! 100% Pure has a unique technology to use pressed fruit pigment in their makeup. So when you smell the berries, it’s because there are actually crushed blackberries in your mascara! There is also a slight blueish, purple tint to the mascara which really pops open my light brown eyes. The mascara is a lengthening and separating formula, which I love. Also I’m not sure if by using the all natural mascara has don’t this, but my lashes look longer and fuller now. This isn’t a waterproof formula, but I didn’t find it to smudge on me. However, keep in mind I typically do not have issues with mascara smudging on me. I do however have issues with certain mascaras making my eyes water.
PUR Cosmetics Strobe/Highlight Palette in Sun-Kissed Glow $35
This beautiful strobe/highlight palette surprised me. While it’s a cream product, it finishes like a powder, so you get the best of both worlds. You get the flawless glow finish of a cream, but the longevity of a powder. I really loved using this all week. My favorite shade is the far left one of the palette called Aurora.

Love the PUR highlight palette, love how it sets to powder finish, but applies as a cream.
I just love your makeup bags; such great essentials. Would love to try that Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturizer. How is it for combo/dry skin? x

Thank you so much!
I am so freaking excited that the bareMinerals palette was an ace for you, I am going to stalk Sephora after this! I really want to place an order for ColorPop later this year, I’m starting to feel like I’m really missing out on something special. My always change my eye look throughout the week, reason being I am trying to learn how to apply eyeshadows. I think I’m finally getting the hang of it but before last year, I rarely wear eyeshadows.

It’s such a great palette! I was so happy I loved it as much as I do! I keep my eye look pretty much the same and lately it’s just one or two shadows. So fun to be experimenting as much as you are!
I have light/medium olive skin. How do you think the Benefit CheekAthon blush palette would work for me?
Author
I think it will suit you quite well! There is a lot of variety with Dallas, Rockature, and Hoola.
I always look forward to your makeup bag posts! I picked up the Benefit Cheekathon palette during the recent platinum sale on a complete whim and am really enjoying it more than I expected I would but it works so well for fair skin. I also think I might pick up that Bare Minerals palette because I have really been into a quick glowy, natural look lately. What I am really dying to try are the new liquid lips from Lancome because I love lippies that aren’t drying or sticky. Hope you have a great week!

Oh those new Lancome lippies are on my list as well! So happy you enjoy the Cheekathon! I’ll have to see if it’s all I think it’ll be, but I’m pretty sure it is :-p
