Makeup Bag Monday #15 ~ Mixing High & Low

Makeup Bag Monday. Every week I will share with you what I have chosen from my current makeup collection with new makeup to review. This will be a collection of products to rediscover, new products to test, and products to give one last go before hitting the bin. Come back every Monday to find out how the previous week went with mini makeup reviews. See what I have selected for the new week ahead. Recently I have been focused on summer makeup.

Last week’s makeup bag was all about keeping it light, fresh, and easy for summer. This heat has not let up and it does not look like it’ll be cooling down anytime soon. I have some fun new makeup products that arrived last week, which I am dying to try out and what better way to test out new makeup than to include them in my Makeup Bag Monday series? Let’s wrap up last week’s makeup bag picks first.

Last Week’s Makeup Bag – Good

First-Day-Of-Summer-Makeup-1

The Estee Edit the barest bronzer in 02 medium/deep $32

This is a fun pigmented soft bronzer that blends beautifully. The shade is a bit redder than I tend to gravitate towards for my bronzer, so I found that I enjoyed using this as an all over face color vs. any contouring.

The Estee Edit flash illuminator in 05 night light $28

I enjoyed the flash illuminator as a cream bronze highlight. I know you can use this all over, but I found the color to be a bit too bronze for my to apply everywhere. This reminded me of a mix between the Soleil Tan De Chanel.

Milani brow fix brow kit in 02 medium $6.44

Love it! One of the rare drugstore brow product finds. This brow powder is perfect for filling in my brows. Lasts all day and easy to use.

Clarins instant light natural lip perfector in 08 $22.50

I love the light vanilla fragrance this gives off. The color is a sheer wash of berry on the lips. Comfortable and hydrating. No complaints here. One of my favorite higher end lip balms.

Jouer Luminzing moisture tint in glow $40 (use “SEREIN15” for 15% off all jouer.com purchases)

I just love Jouer Cosmetics. The quality is always good. The luminizing moisture tint is perfect for a light radiant wash of color, but still looking like skin. Wears beautifully and makes you skin look radiant.

Last Week’s Makeup Bag – Great

100% Pure fruit pigment blush in mimosa $35

I really love the 100% Pure powder products. They do such a great job at creating smooth, rich, pigmented powders. All natural, all 100% cruelty free, and some are even vegan! Definitely check out their blushers.

Glossier haloscope in quarts $22 (use “HALOSEREIN” for $5 off glossier.com purchases thru July 5th)

What can I say? I’m a Glossier addict! I love everything that Glossier comes out with. They do an amazing job of mixing minimalism and high performance in one. Love the effortless vibes and I just feel cooler when I use Glossier products. This cream highlight is infused with actual rose quartz and looks beautiful on the skin. Obsessed!

Last Week’s Makeup Bag – Stand Out

L’oreal infallible eye shadow in amber rush $6.97

I forgot how much I LOVE this drugstore find. Basically 2 years ago, when I was obsessed with watching YouTube videos, this was all the rage. I was depressed and YouTube helped me get out of the house and start to heal.

After watching hours of beauty videos, I ran to the nearest drugstores, having rarely been a drugstore visitor, and scoured the stores for all the must haves and holy grails. This eyeshadow being one of them. I think this shadow is actually 2 years old, but oh so good still. The beautiful light rose gold shimmer all over my eyelids give me a polished look, without trying much. I like to apply with my fingers and blend out with a brush. Such a great find and a good start to drugstore week on my beauty channel.

makeup bag

It is my first ever drugstore week on my main channel, so this week I wanted to try some new products that I received as well as incorporate a few affordable finds. I rarely focus on drugstore products because I am very picky with my skincare and makeup. Also I just like luxury makeup and skincare. I’m in my 30’s and as much as I love a good buy, I’ve learned the importance of quality over quantity.  The more I learn and the more I try, the harder it becomes to impress me. With drugstore prices going up, I find that sometimes drugstore products are only getting the hype because they are good for drugstore. I don’t care if it’s good for it being drugstore, I want it to be good out of all the options I have. When I recommend drugstore, it is because I feel it is of the same quality as all the other makeup options out there. Of course sometime the drugstore products won’t have the same ingredients, but I do expect it to do what it should and wear well on my face. Hello! It’s on my face! I want my face to look good!
