New From BareMinerals ~ Makeup Bag Monday 8

Can you believe this is already week 8 of Makeup Bag Monday? That’s 2 months of weekly makeup reviews focused on a small collection of makeup products to be put to the test for a full week. What have I learned the last two months?

  • It’s really hard to rotate your makeup.
  • Purging makeup does not come easily to me.
  • I get bored easily. I own too much makeup.
  • I am consistent in which brands I trust and consistently reach for: IT Cosmetics, Bare Minerals, PUR Cosmetics, Make Up For Ever, and NUDESTIX are my tried and true.

Last week I pared down the makeup products to just four. Five if you count each Lancome Juicy Shaker separately. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that trying too much can be overwhelming. On top of the new makeup constantly coming in that I need to test out and the fact that I try to give myself a day off from wearing any makeup, I need to keep my picks at 4-5 items max. Anymore and I loose focus and stress out.

I was pretty happy with my makeup last week and many of you really loved it in my videos as well. You can read last week’s post here. My final thoughts for last week.

Last Week

Last Week (the beginning of my BareMinerals obsession)

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ in medium $38

A tried and true favorite, I just love this amazing all in one product. You get a physical SPF 50, so important! If you are curious about SPF and my thoughts, watch my SPF video guide here. It’s a full coverage product that makes your skin look flawless, but natural. The texture is hydrating, long lasting, and light-weight. It’s filled with good ingredients. The packaging is convenient. I received so many complements on my makeup last week and I really think this CC+ cream is what you guys loved about my makeup. There is a reason this is such a popular item, there is nothing on the market like it.

IT Cosmetics Sunshine in a Compact warmth $34

I really enjoyed this warm matte bronzer. It warmed up my complexion, looked natural, and was super easy to blend. The shade reminds me a lot of The Bodyshop Honey bronzer in 03, another favorite. This powder bronzer lasts all day and would work well for many skin tones from light to medium. There is a ton of product in the disk packaging as well.

BareMinerals Lovescape Collection the instant attraction eyeshadow quad $30

BareMinerals has always been a favorite of mine, but I feel lately I’ve been rediscovering my love for the mineral based brand. There recent launch of the Nudes Palette had me craving for more shades from them. When I saw this limited edition quad I had to have it. This quad is a beautiful mix of warm shimmers. Highly pigmented and easy to use. I’ve been wearing each shadow on it’s own all over the lid. For more versatility, I’d recommend pairing the quad with a few matte shadows or a matte palette. Long lasting, high color pay off, and mineral based, all around a great eyeshadow quad.

Lancome Juicy Shakers  in freedom of peach and piece of cake $21 each

Probably one of my most anticipated new product launches all Spring. I’ve been waiting for these babies to launch for months it seems. When I finally got them, I was in love! They are so fun to wear and super sheer. They remind me of an adult version of lip smackers. Hydrating, sheer tints of color. I don’t think you need more than one, since the colors are so sheer and if you’re like me, with darker lips, they really won’t add too much color. They are fun to wear and adds lots of shine. They are not long lasting at all, so be prepared to reapply, a lot. Probably why they made the packaging so fun to reapply and use. Defiantly a unique product, but not enough of a lip product to wear for a full week.

This Week

This week I am testing out a lot of new BareMinerals makeup. I remember using my little BareMinerals kit back in collage and loving how easy and natural the makeup was. Now BareMinerals has defiantly expanded their brand to so much more than just a mineral foundation, all over warmth, and mineral veil. I am excited to be putting the new Bare Minerals makeup to the test this week along with a gorgeous new eyeshadow palette I picked up by Laura Mercier.

I love that you do this! I’m so bad about rotating products and trying new ones. Once I find one, I stick to it forever. I do need to give Bare Minerals a chance again! I hear such great things and always love how it looks on other people. xx, Erin – http://www.stylebythepeople.com

I wish I could stick to a product! I have so much to review and use up, I’m always overwhelmed. Loving Bare Minerals lately and it’s been working well with me skin too. Thanks for stopping by.

I’ve been a little MIA, but try and stop by and read your posts when I can! I love seeing photos of your makeup! Unfortunately a lot of Bare Minerals products has the ingredient Bismuth Oxychloride, which I am allergic to. I just read up on it too and supposedly it isn’t the best for Acne prone skin. I hate that I can’t use it because it looks SO beautiful on the skin!!! I’ll just live vicariously through those who can use it and admire the makeup from afar! Thank you so much for this great post!!!!

That’s so frustrating! I’m so sorry you are allergic to most of their products! I wonder why it’s in there. Do you know the purpose of Bismuth Oxychloride? Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you are doing okay.

I just picked up the Complexion rescue for Mother’s day since they had a special with it and the brush for $38 but I am wishing I had snagged that powder duo as well! I’m not completely sure about the color – 1.5 – but we will see! As for the Laura Mercier palette…. I had it and after endless trials, I returned it. I love African Violet but no matter what primer I used, I could not get it to show up! I couldn’t get any of the colors to really show up and when I tried to blend them, it was a hot mess. I just picked up the UD Alice Through the Looking Glass palette and I see myself watching a number of tutorials! I am actually on the hunt for a really good neutral foundation for fair skin and a good primer (and a coral lippie!) and then need to go on a no-buy for a bit 😉 Have a great week!!

Thank you so much Jenn! I seem to be on the fence with the LM palette right now, it’s been 3 days since I’ve used it and I’m not sure. Loving the duo powder, defiantly try and pick it up. Have you seen my review and video on Match Co foundation? It’s my favorite and everyone seem so be loving it as well. I’d look at that in terms of your go to foundation 🙂 Let me know if you find a good coral lippie! I need one too! Oh the hourglass veil primer has been my go to for years. I’ve gone through 2 full size and 3 small trial ones. Pricey, but the best! Also a little goes a long way so it lasts forever. Thanks for reading and sharing!

Purging makeup was never easy until late last year and I have done two more purges ever since so I’m down to only 90 lipsticks, 10 foundations and 10 eyeshadow palettes. Very small stash but something that I can easily work with and at least I’m not overwhelmed anymore. I look forward to reading about bareMinerals Complexion Rescue, I’m planning to purchase it as I read on another blog that it’s light and dewy.

I am constantly purging! I have to… it’s out of control. My initial review of the bareminerals complexion rescue was that it was too dewy for my oily skin, but then my skin dried up and it was good. Now I have a weird dry and oily complexion so it depends on my skin day. My first impression of the complexion rescue was a video and that review got so much hate because I didn’t love it right off the bat, but it was honest. I’ll update you after a week of exclusively using this baby.

Purging makeup is nearly impossible for me. At the beginning of the month I finally threw away some products I had not used in years and felt a little bit lighter 🙂 That it cosmetics cc cream seems to be a beauty blogger favorite– but I have yet to try it. I actually had the opposite bare minerals experience lol. I bought one of their kits in high school and absolutely hated every single product and avoided the brand like the plague. Then last year I bought their serum concealer and fell in love! Now I’m open to trying more of their products 🙂 I’ve read a few reviews this morning about the powder duo and how great it is!

I feel you on the purge! Although when a product is that old, you really shouldn’t put it on your face, so good start! Oh that’s so crazy to hear about your first experience with BM. I love the serum concealer! Also the eyeshadow palettes are great. Defiantly pick up a sample of the IT cosmetics CC+ soon! It’s the perfect summer product. Thanks for reading!

I love Bareminerals and I have their Complexion Resuce Tinted Hydrating Gel which I love. I have their new Powder duo sitting in my ‘Loves List’ on Sephora website. It looks like a great powder so want to give it a whirl! xx

My review a year ago for the complexion rescue was just okay, I was too oily at the time to be using it, but I love it now, especially as my skin has improved. The duo powder is wonderful and I love it so much! Thanks for reading!

The bare minerals palette looks amazing! I haven’t tried bare minerals yet so I’m super excited to pick this palette up x
