Feeling like summer makeup ~ Makeup Bag Monday 7

It’s beginning to feel a lot like summer in LA. This week will mark the beginning of a series of summer makeup reviews. For Makeup Bag Monday Week 7, I thought it would be appropriate for me to incorporate some tried and true summer makeup products that have been favorites in previous summers. Of course with a new season there will be tons of new product launches in the beauty industry and I will be putting them to the test as well. In case you missed previous posts, Makeup bag Monday is a blog series here, where I select a few makeup products from my makeup collection, some new, some forgotten, and put them to the test for the coming week. This helps me purge unloved items from my makeup collection and update you on product reviews after a full week. We all know how the foundation we were so in love, somehow becomes just mediocre and you can’t believe how much you loved it just a few months ago. Or that had to have it eyeshadow palette, now shoved in the back of a drawer and long forgotten. Should you keep it? Do you still love it? Or is there something better?

Unconsciously, last week I already started to incorporate more summer makeup items into my weekly makeup bag rotation. In case you missed last weeks post, you can find it here. So let’s see how I liked last week’s simple summer makeup picks.

Simple Makeup Review (Unconsciously Summer Makeup)

Benefit Cheekathon $58

Seriously such a great buy! I knew I would love the Benefit Cheekathon palette. I am already a huge fan of Hoola, Dallas, Dandelion, and Coralista. The 3 blushes, and 1 bronzer are full size. The packaging is as adorable as expected from Benefit and comes with a large mirror and full size brush. If you see this, pick it up before it’s too late. Dallas is my favorite all over face color (think contour, bronzer, and blush in one). Hoola is a tried and true matte bronzer that looks great on almost everyone. Dandelion, makes for a beautiful natural flush, especially suited for those with fairer complexions. Coralista, is a great spring/summer blush to add warmth and a flush to the cheeks.

Laura Geller Bakeed Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Gilded Honey  $26

This highlight has been sold out FOREVER thanks to Kathleenlights, but I finally got my hands on it and it did not disappoint. It’s a beautiful golden highlight that accentuates a bronzer glow. Perfect for summer.

Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturizer $72

I’ve been in love with this tinted moisturizer for awhile now, but hesitant to recommend it based on the price tag. I think you can find something just as comparable for a lesser price, but I do enjoy using the Chatecaille Just Skin Tint Moisturizer. The skincare based product offers a very light coverage, hydration, and antioxidants. Not enough SPF in my opinion, so I do layer my typical SPF 30 underneath the skin tint. This is for my makeup free days, but offers a little tint to make me feel better if I need to run out the house.

Becca Ombre Nudes Eye Palette  $40

Kind of disappointed in this palette. The eyeshadows themselves are beautiful, but the palette as a whole was not enough for me. I really missed a light cream shade for my brow bone. The browns are beautiful and even work for my brows, but I found myself a bit bored with the palette. It’s a great matte pallet to use with other shadows, but not enough for the one and only palette. Definitely missed some sparkle and colors last week. It could just be my mood as well. When I first purchased this palette, I was using it for weeks and loved the versatility, this time around, I found it a bit bland. I can be fickle.

Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Color $18

This brow pencil is think and precise. I love the universal taupe shade, but the design is lacking a spooly! I NEED a spooly to blend the product and groom my brows. Yes, I have a spare spooly in my brush kit, but when it comes to a brow pencil, I want there to be one at the end!

Can’t wait to hear what you think of the Juicy Shakers! I’ve been wanting to try them since they came out but they have so many shades that I’m not sure which one to pick up.

Thank you Kat! Yes, it’s so hot here already, not looking forward to full on summer. I actually love the U.K. weather, but we always want what we don’t have… actually I really would love to move to the U.K. It’s hubs and my dream.
