Makeup Bag Monday. Every week I will share with you what I have chosen from my current makeup collection with new makeup to review. This will be a collection of products to rediscover, new products to test, and products to give one last go before hitting the bin. Come back every Monday to find out how the previous week went with mini makeup reviews. See what I have selected for the new week ahead. Recently I have been focused on summer makeup.
WOW it’s getting hot! Today is the first day of summer and it’s already 108 degrees here. My makeup has had to work extra hard lately to keep up with the summer heat. This past week, I realized a few things. When you turn 30, your body changes in so many ways, one being you just sweat more. At least I do. I have always been a sweater, but lately, I feel like i’m having hot flashes. Extreme heat gets to me more so than ever and my poor makeup has to pay the price.
When it get’s this hot, I just don’t want to wear anything, let alone a full face of makeup. Last week’s Makeup Bag Monday really was the perfect light-weight products to start off this crazy hot summer we are about to have. With the heat and my up coming summer travels, you’ll notice my weekly makeup rotation heavily focuses on summer makeup. For me this means, light-weight, sheer, products that are easy to wear and re-apply. Some might be long lasting, more importantly I am looking for comfort and ease. My eye makeup has to wear nicely and last all day, but as long as my face makeup looks good as it sweats off, I’m fine with it. Now for a full face evening out, it’s gotta be sweat proof, but that’s a different post.
Last Week’s Easy Makeup Picks
Let’s start with how I last week’s makeup bag picks fared. Catch up with last week’s post here. As you can tell, I subconsciously already started to pick lighter, easy to wear products for the summer makeup theme.
Boscia Tsubaki Glotion $38.00
The perfect radiant daily moisturizer for dry skin. With a natural radiant pearlescent glow, you can use this all over under makeup or my personal preference on the high points of my face for a soft gentle glow. Apply over your SPF before makeup for the most natural finish. To bump up the radiance, use it over makeup. It can also be mixed in with your face makeup. The possibilities are endless!
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette $62.00
Honestly, this did nothing for me in the heat. It’s a radiant powder to add a soft focus effect. I just sweat too much for this to do anything for me. It just melts off. I will have to put this palette away for cooler months.
NUDESTIX Gel Color in Posh & Pulse $24.00 each
Love this stuff! You can use it on your lips or your cheeks. Not sticky at all. I like the juicy effect it gives my lips and dewy look on my cheeks. Great to keep in your bag for touch up’s. Perfect for a beach to dinner transition. If you followed me on Snapchat (sereinwu) over the weekend, you’d see I only carried a few items in my purse for a whole day of exploring.
Tata Harper Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint $36
I did not get around to trying. I found as a lip balm I enjoyed it. It is not very volumizing in my opinion. I do like the pretty wash of tint for a hydrating lip balm. Have not tried it as on the cheeks yet.
Loving this mascara lately, the wand is perfect and really helps grab at my lashes to lift and volumize. Did not streak or smudge all day.
Jouer Mineral Powder Bronzer in Sun Tan $30 (use: SEREIN15 for 15% off Jouer.com)
LOVE this bronzer, this is my second of this product. Rarely do I go through a product. It’s a great product if I have gone through a full one.
A beautiful matte powder bronzer that looks ultra natural and feels beautiful on the skin. You can use alone or layer over liquid bronzers as well.
Estee Lauder Genuine Glow Reviving Oil Lip Tint $20
This was a pretty tinted oil that reminded me of the YSL tint in oil. Not as oily as the YSL version. I like the applicator, which is a rubberized twist up. It feels a little more sanitary. This is exclusive to Blue Mercury.
Estee Lauder Genuine Glow Blushing Creme for Lips and Cheeks $22
Loving this cheek blush lately. So easy to apply. Looks like a natural flush that lasts all day on me. I do find that it’s easier to apply with my fingers vs. directly with the product. This way you own’t rub off your tinted moisturizer or whatever you might already have on. Exclusive to Blue Mercury.

I find powder products are best for Autumn/Winter because none will last on me during the warmer months. I look forward to read how you get along with this week’s picks next Monday.
